Araucana Lodge

Nestled in a bamboo and palm grove on a ‘finca’ in the Western Andes of Colombia at 1600 meters above sea level, Araucana Lodge is located about a 40 minute drive from Cali.

On 20 acres of Andean forest, a vegetable farm and gardens with a cool climate, our ten room eco-lodge is the perfect place to birdwatch, take leisurely walks and eat delicious meals from our organic farm to your table.

We cannot wait to host you.

Bird Checklist

With over 1,900 bird species, Colombia is the most species-rich country on earth. The Colombian department (state) where the lodge is located, called ‘Valle del Cauca’, is a mega-diverse region hosting over half the bird species (1000+) in the country in an area that occupies only 2% of the country’s landmass.

This astounding diversity is due to the range of different habitats found in the department, including the humid tropical forests of the Pacific lowlands, the cloud forests and paramo ecosystems of the western and central Andes, and the wetlands and dry forests in the Cauca river valley.

The lodge is strategically located to have easy access to some of the best birding sites in Colombia, allowing you to return to a comfortable bed and a home-cooked meal after a long day of birding.
